MISSING IN TASMANIA SINCE 2023

Céline Cremer, a 31-year-old Belgian traveller.

Céline was last seen near the Philosopher Falls walking track, close to Waratah in the state’s north-west. Her vehicle, a white Honda CRV (reg E40TF), was found in the car park on 27 June, though police believe it may have been parked there since 17 June.

She was due to travel on the Spirit of Tasmania ferry on 26 June but never arrived. Concern grew quickly when she did not make her journey, prompting an intensive search effort. Céline’s last known phone activity placed her in the Philosopher Falls area around 4:18 pm. It is believed she left the marked trail and entered difficult terrain, where dense rainforest and poor visibility make navigation extremely challenging.

Tasmania Police, SES volunteers, and specialist resources including cadaver dogs and drones searched the area extensively. Ground searches were suspended on 10 July 2023 after no trace was found.

Friends and family have since engaged private investigators to continue analysing GPS and phone data, and renewed searches have been conducted with advanced mapping and LiDAR technology.

Céline is described as a kind, adventurous young woman with a passion for travel and nature. Despite exhaustive efforts, no confirmed trace of her has yet been located or found.

Authorities emphasise that missing-person cases remain open until resolved. Anyone with credible information about Céline’s movements or belongings in the Philosopher Falls area in June 2023 is urged to contact Police:

Youtuber Rob Parsons – Retracing the Last Known Steps

Parsons uses the detailed GPS data associated with Céline’s phone to retrace her movements prior to her disappearance. He reconstructs the route she took near Philosopher Falls in northwest Tasmania, examining where her signals began and where they abruptly stopped.

A key observation in his work is that although her GPS data ends on the day she went missing, her phone remained in contact with cell towers for up to three more days, suggesting that the device was still “alive,” though not transmitting location data.

Hello everyone,

We have created a poster to raise funds in order to organize the search for Céline in the most effective way possible.

The posters will be placed in shops that agree to display them. If you would like to help us increase visibility by putting one up near you, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

A few clarifications about our approach:

• The round-trip plane ticket is entirely at our own expense.

• Donations will be used only on site: for logistics, accommodation, food, volunteers, etc.

• We will dedicate 10 intensive days to the search, with 2 days of rest.

Once our search is completed, as soon as we leave Tasmania, we will close the accounts. The remaining funds will be given to Ariane, Céline’s mother, who will choose a charity that Céline would have wanted to support.

Thank you for your support, your shares, your messages, and your solidarity. Together, we keep hope alive that we may finally be able to understand and allow everyone to grieve.

Message from Rachel Disbechl, friend of Celine Cremer on Facebook.

Hello everyone,

Some of you have followed this story closely, others from a little further away… But all of you have been touched by the disappearance of our friend Céline.

On June 17, 2023, Céline vanished without a trace in the rainforest of Philosopher Falls, in Waratah, Tasmania (Australia). In the very first days, significant resources were deployed: divers, drones, helicopters… But difficult weather conditions hindered the search.

Today, a glimmer of hope has returned. In December 2025, three of us will travel there to explore the remaining areas. We will be guided by the Tasmanian police, who have been involved from the beginning, supported by experts and backed by volunteers.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of Justine (Céline’s best friend) and Ariane (her mother), the search can now focus on much more precise areas.

We sincerely hope to find a trace: an object, a clue, something…

To make this trip possible, we are making an appeal, according to what each person can or wants to contribute. There is no obligation, only the desire to take part, to support, to help.
